• Founded: the first season was opened in 1808 and the place was called Mariánské Lázně. In 1818 it was declared a public spa which was raised to town in 1865.
• Altitude: 630 m above sea level
• Climate: rather harsh, typical of mountainous areas.

• Interesting places: beautiful nature of the Slavkovský les nature reserve with numerous marked paths for hikers, bikers and skiers
