Františkovy Lázně
Františkovy Lázně is a garden town where green plants and parks are as important as architecture. That is why it is ideal for medium-sized and small MICE events.
- Founded: in 1793. The original name of the place was the Village of Emperor František. It was renamed Františkovy Lázně in 1807 and in 1865 it was raised to town.
- Altitude: 450 m above sea level
- Climate: rather harsh, typical of mountainous areas
- Natural rarity:mineral springs with a hig amount of carbon dioxide, sulphur-ferric peat, SOOS nature reserve - a peatbog rich in mineral springs, mud volcanoes and a shield of kieseguhr. Komorní hůrka - the youngest active volcano in Central Europe.
- Architectural sights: classicist, Empire, historizing, Art Nouveau. In 1992 the historical centre of Františkovy Lázně was declared an urban conservation area.
- Important events:Musical Summer, Johannes Strauss Week
